Brief description:
The Circular Economy proposes a life cycle analysis of products and the redesign of systems. It is an approach that optimises the use of resources and reduces pollution, including applied to transport systems.
The mitigation potential of this sector is immense and plays a key role in meeting climate goals, and while the transformation towards a new paradigm of sustainability is evident, there are major challenges that could emerge with the externalities of the transition to more sustainable modes of transport. Mining activity associated with battery and components, the production and final disposal of batteries and auto parts, and even of the vehicles, require measures and alternatives to minimise their impact.
In this segment we aim to highlight challenges and experiences from the lens of circular models in transport, explore actions that governments and the private sector can take, and highlight the benefits of redesigning, extending lifetimes and promoting the efficient use of raw materials and resources in the transport transition.
